Wrexham AFC has partnered with Signify Group to deploy its Threat Matrix service, providing year-round protection for the Club’s players, staff and official social media channels from online abuse, discrimination and credible threats.

The partnership reflects Wrexham AFC’s continued commitment to player welfare and creating a safer environment for everyone connected with the Club, both on and off the pitch.

Wrexham AFC is currently the only Championship club using Signify’s Threat Matrix service, reinforcing its proactive approach to the growing risks associated with online abuse and threats in professional sport.

Protecting people from threats that matter

Social media has transformed the relationship between football clubs, players and supporters, creating unprecedented opportunities for engagement. But that connectivity can also expose people to abuse, harassment, discrimination and, in the most serious cases, credible threats.

Signify’s Threat Matrix combines AI-powered detection, specialist human analysis and ethical open-source intelligence (OSINT) to identify, assess and investigate online abuse and threats directed at individuals and organisations.

The service monitors public social media platforms for abusive, threatening, violent and discriminatory content, with specialist analysts assessing the most serious incidents and supporting investigations where appropriate.

This enables our clients to move beyond simply monitoring abuse and focus on the threats that require action - identifying risk, understanding those responsible and supporting appropriate responses from social media platforms, football authorities and law enforcement.

Year-round protection for Wrexham AFC

Threat Matrix coverage will extend across Wrexham AFC’s men’s and women’s senior squads, academy players, coaching staff and official Club social media channels.

The Club will receive real-time threat alerts, investigative support and regular insight analysis throughout the season, helping identify emerging risks and strengthen safeguarding measures.

The service will also provide a dedicated reporting and investigation process for harassment directed at players through Direct Messages (DMs) and other digital channels.

Alongside threat detection and investigation, Signify will deliver in-person education and training workshops for Wrexham AFC’s squads, giving players and staff greater awareness of online risks and practical knowledge to help them stay safer online.

Threat Matrix is designed to help organisations understand what matters, who is responsible, the level of risk involved and, crucially, what action can be taken.
