Kalshi Partners with Signify to Strengthen Athlete Protection

Proactive threat monitoring by Signify Group’s Threat Matrix covers athletes and coaches across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and ATP Tour. Verified abuse and threats can now lead to account action by Kalshi, including permanent closure of accounts.

Kalshi, the next-generation financial exchange, has partnered with Signify Group to strengthen protection for athletes and coaches from online abuse, harassment and threats.

The partnership brings together Signify’s AI-powered Threat Matrix service, Kalshi’s platform enforcement measures and the Bad Actor Program, established by Signify Group and Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360), to create a more direct connection between identifying serious online abuse and taking action against those responsible.

Under the partnership, Threat Matrix will proactively monitor public social media for abuse, threats and harassment targeting athletes, coaches and sports personnel across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and ATP Tour. Using AI-powered monitoring across 32 categories of abuse and threats in more than 100 languages, Signify combines automated detection with specialist analyst assessment and open-source intelligence investigations to identify serious cases, assess potential risks and gather evidence where possible.

Where evidence identifies a Kalshi user as responsible for abusive or threatening behavior, Kalshi can take enforcement action under its platform rules, up to and including permanent account closure. Where appropriate, evidence can also be shared with relevant sports organizations or referred to law enforcement to support further action.

The partnership represents an important development in efforts to tackle online abuse in sport, combining specialist threat intelligence, investigative expertise and platform accountability.

From Identifying Abuse to Taking Action

Identifying harmful content is an important first step, but it is not enough on its own. Effective responses require the ability to assess the seriousness of the behavior, investigate the individuals responsible and provide evidence that enables appropriate action.

The Kalshi partnership is designed to connect these stages, turning intelligence into actionable outcomes. Through Threat Matrix, Signify identifies and assesses abusive and threatening behavior, with specialist investigations providing additional scrutiny where cases warrant it. This intelligence can then support action by Kalshi, relevant sports organizations and law enforcement, where appropriate.

The focus is on abusive, threatening and potentially criminal behavior, not legitimate criticism, debate or discussion of sporting performance.

The Bad Actor Program: Creating Accountability

An additional element of the partnership is Kalshi’s participation in the Bad Actor Program, which addresses a fundamental challenge in online safety: the gap between identifying abuse on social media and taking action against the people responsible on the platforms they use.

Developed by Signify Group and IC360, the Bad Actor Program enables verified intelligence to be matched against participating operators’ customer data. This allows operators to assess relevant cases and determine appropriate action under their own platform rules.

For Kalshi, the program provides an additional mechanism for addressing serious abusive or threatening behavior by its users, with potential consequences including account restrictions, suspension or permanent closure.

The program is designed to establish a clear deterrent. Individuals who use online platforms to threaten or abuse athletes should understand that their behavior can have consequences beyond the original social media interaction.

The partnership also includes updated provisions in Kalshi’s platform policies and terms and conditions, explicitly establishing that abuse and threats will not be tolerated.

Building Stronger Safeguards Across Prediction Markets and Sport

As prediction markets grow, protecting athletes and sports personnel from online abuse becomes an increasingly important consideration. Where individuals have a financial interest in the outcome of a sporting event, threats and targeted harassment can present additional challenges for the people involved.

By combining proactive threat intelligence, specialist investigation and platform enforcement, the Kalshi partnership demonstrates how prediction markets can take a more active role in addressing serious online abuse.

The objective is clear: to help protect athletes and coaches, establish accountability for threatening behavior and strengthen safeguards around participation in sport.
